Acer palmatum 'Mirte'

    I find 'Mirte' to be a very nice shaped tree with a bit unusually brown green leaves.

    here is another view of the tree. Last fall I had a different Mirte and it had a great yellow fall color.

    I added Mirte to my garden this year. it is a tree which does not draw much attention durning most of the year. It is starting to brighten up in sept

    It just arrived, 15th October 2020 and very well packaged as you would expect from Hippopottering. It is small, but thats OK, very pretty leaves and I hope it's as good as M @ROEBUK when it grows up !!!

    8th May 2021 and my first pisting of my Mirte for this year. This cultivar is showing great promise and it's going to be a firm favourite in my garden.

    My supplier have this one listed under shirasawanum. I've also found other sites with shirasawanum but nothing mentioning it being a hybrid. I'll keep doing research. But for now here is my 'Mirte'.

    This looks like another one of those "found in a famous nursery" cultivars that are crosses between shirasawanum and palmatum, or vice versa. Known for hairy leaves in spring which is a shirasawanum characteristic, not palmatum or even amoenum.. Similarly 'Sensu' and 'Trompenburg' have recently been mentioned in the forum. Which gives me an idea...

    Nah, not that interesting, just going to suggest it to that fellow in Canada with an unknown shirasawanum cultivar.

    My Mirte today just coming out of the chocolate spring leaf stage and slowly moving into it's olive green leaf stage.

    Mirte from last fall 2021 the colours were very vibrant last year , one of my favourite maples , had this now for numerous years just keeps looking nicer each year.
