In full sun, the new leaves are delicately edged with reddish pink color.

Mine's leafing out for a couple of weeks and it's grown sooooo much this year; it's really vigorous for a laceleaf. Also the colors are pretty too. Great tree!

My Emerald lace seems to be very resistant to leaf burn...even in the hot summers of Louisiana. I have not had one leaf that's burned yet, even though all most of my other ones have, at least a little.

i'll post some pictures of the dark green summer color--I don't see any pictures of summer color--and fall either. This fall if it graces me with good red fall color I'll post some pictures of that too.

This one was planted in July 2004, in light dappled shade. It has just started to colour nicely.

I too have had good luck with my emerald lace here in the south. It is definitely vigorous, growing in summer when others do not. It reminds me very much of a weeping seiryu (the leaves are slightly different, but they are more similar than most other weeping laceleafs). The fall color is very similar to that of seiryu as well: it goes from a deep purple burgundy to a rich red with just a tinge of orange before the leaves drop. Green hornet is marketed as a "red" fall colored laceleaf, but IMO Emerald lace is superior for fall color and heat tolerance. If I had to choose one green dissectum for the south this would be the one out of my 10 or 12 cultivars...luckily I don't have to do that :).

Still have a few colorful branches into December.

This cultivar is known for its vigor. It's a great looking plant that takes shaping and staking.

My Acer palmatum ' Emerald Lace' is maturing nicely this year, I have found it to be a strong cultivar in all conditions. Mine is planted very close to my elderly green dissectum and the contrast of greens is very pleasing.
Second flush leaves in June 2020 have a lovely pink tinge to the tip of the new growth.

An update on my Emerald lace on the 4th July after a nights rain. This is in full sun all day long. I do reccomend this cultivar for anybody with a sunny garden. It copes so very well.

August 6th 2020 and extreme heat is forecast over the next few days, so I thought I would post photos of my dissectums before and after to show how they cope. This I feel can be useful for people considering buying a particular variety.

15th August 2020, lots of rain at last, the leaves have freshend up so quickly. My misting I carry out in the evenings in hot weather was of no use this year when temperatures were in the mid 30 C 's for many many days. It just evaporated so quickly.
This maple has no problems whatever the weather in my garden, but does look quite photogenic in the rain.

18th August 2020 and everything is colouring up along with new growth. Almost looks like Spring and Autumn at the same time in my garden. So strange, but a nice strange if you get my meaning.
Drooping after a very heavy nights rain, it dried out so quickly and looked very fragile this morning. But it is as strong as any in my garden, so looks are deceiving.
