hi someone have in garden this maple?or more info ? i read that new branch are rich red !!is available in the trade?
Hi Alex-- Can't help you, and I haven't seen the plant, so I can't comment on its red new branches. I looked for it in the U.S. some years ago and wasn't able to locate it. A botanist friend who travelled extensively in Mexico several years ago said he thought it was becoming uncommon or rare, and the IUCN seems to agree. Best of luck; it would be good to establish it somewhere outside of Mexico as a precautionary measure. Dan
Never heard of it. I didn't even know that this species had other varieties, or that it could grow in Mexico! Does this one look much different than the one we have here in Manitoba?
Hi, PanGlobal Plants in England collected a beautiful form of this one in Mexico. Did you read about it in the book "New Trees" from Kew? I assume Nick the owner of PanGlobal grew it at the nursery. Maybe since you live in Italy, you could contact him. If he still grows it, perhaps he could help you.
Pan-Global Plants. Says they don't do mail order but looks a fantastic place for a visit: The Walled Garden
Pan Global is situated just near the road between Bristol and Gloucester. Nearer to the Gloucester end. It is a nursery that we use regularly.( 50 miles from us) Nick is a very helpful knowledgeable young man, and the plants he sells very healthy. For any one wishing to visit, can I just mention that Westonbirt The National Arboretum is very close to Pan Global! Two birds with one stone. The Cotswold with beautiful scenery is also near by.. Tourist advert for this area completed!!!! http://images.google.com/images?q=t...1I7SUNA_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
