Beautiful variegate but tends to revert. Several that I have propagated completely reverted. However those that remain with the variegation are extremely nice. Seemingly a fast grower, but not as fast as the species.

    Looks diseased!

If I was given one, I'd do all I could to help it revert . . .

What is the bark coloring like for this Maple?
Have you formed an opinion as to why several
of your offspring have reverted on you? Taking
into considering this Maple is a variegate, what
are your growing conditions for this plant such
as amount of sun versus shade? Have you had any
problems in the past with powdery mildew where
you are with this Maple? How widespread is the
variegation in the tree? Are there any "special"
    growing requirements for this plant?

I do not know this particular Maple. Does appear
    to be a nice one.

    Jim,

I have been grwoing this plant for 4 years so the verdict is still out. This is what I can say.

The bark is a pleasing green with light white stripes and specks, but the stripes are not too conspicuous. I have a 50-50 rate for reversion in new grafts. I am waiting on some 2 and 3 year olds that I grafted to see if they ever revert back with varigation. These were flagged as variegated prior to grafting. If they don't come back maybe I will send one to Michael F. The plants that reverted back to pure green are quite vigorous.

I have the variegated plants in part sun as they tend to burn in the hot sun. However, the variegated plant is vigorous overall and I don't have any problems with it. No special growing conditions.
