Hello, I have some very nice young birches, B albosinensis 'Jean Pierre Hennebelle' and a nice B. ermanii cultivar, can't remember the name right now. They are well healed but fresh grafts, the rubber bands are still there and there was some suckering on the understock on one. They're in 2l pots, very moisture retentive nursery soil either peat or one of the newer coir mixtures. I think these are likely the pots the understock grew in. The question is should I plant them now, in the spring, or wait until next fall? I know birches don't like being transplanted and so it's a good idea to get them in quickly normally, but I'm concerned the young grafts will have a problem. I assume I should plant at the existing soil line. They are grafted just above the soil. Thanks, -Emery
