    hortiphoto...many thanks for your suggestion.
    However having searched www I am not sure that we have a match.
    The length of the petiole , the leaf veins, the structure of the flower just don't look a perfect match
    But maybe I am not correct?

    I hope I'm not misremembering, but I think I saw Costus lasius at the US Botanic Garden in Washington, DC today and it had slightly but noticeably fuzzy leaves top and bottom, and slimmer leaves. I convinced myself that I had no reason to photograph it.
