I live in Crawford Texas in hilly country. I have a lot of chunky rock(limestone). Despite that my palm has done rather well. In about 12-15 years I have had no problems. It is in a fairly sunny area. My question though is about the pods that come out in the spring. A friend has told me that those pods need to be cut out or they will kill the palm. Is this correct. I have been cutting them out and the plant is about 15 feet tall now. Do I need to continue? They are getting harder to reach and I have had 3 back surgeries. One worry I have other than that is the trunk is half the size of the upper trunk. I hope someone can help.
