i got this flower from the Mediterranean forest It is a kind of lily but i don't know what is the scientifical name exactly can any body tell me
There is no division of the flower into two major sections including a perianth cup, therefore Sternbergia and not Narcissus.
Is that Lattakia, Syria? Did you find the sternbergia growing there? I see S. lutea is also called nut grass or nutmeg hyacinth. Does it smell like nutmeg? And why nut grass, I wonder. Do the seeds look like nuts? Not hardy for me here so have never seen it blooming in person.
thx all Ron B, johnnyjumpup, Andrey Zharkikh sorry about the adjacent on the keyboard. yes i mean "but" i'm from syria lattakia city and this from lattakian forst "
I'm with Sternbergia too. I have S. lutea in my garden. It even has the distinctive kink in the stem below the ovary.
How lucky to have sternbergia growing wild in your local forest! Have you cyclamen and crocus growing there as well?
