    Hi,

I have owned this remarkable looking plant for over two years now. Apparently, it is healthy and all, but in all this time I have never figured out what it is. It was a gift from a friend who was moving away. Anyhow, can someone please help me identify this fella, and provide tips as to its care and feeding?

    Thank you!

    Hi Lynott,

I agree with Ali that it looks like Aglaonema commutatum - Chinese evergreen. It looks like it needs a good watering as the leaves shouldn't be that curled - a sign of water stress. There are several varieties of Aglaonema. The second one shows it with berries. Is this your plant?

Water when they dry out, but preferably before the leaves curl. A bright spot out of direct sunlight will make it happy. It will shed it's lower leaves as it grows and develop a 'trunk' of sorts. You don't really need to worry about fertilizing, but you could use something natural like fish emulsion or seaweed once a month during the spring and summer.

    Ali,
they do bloom and get berries.

I am aware that they got blooms and berries but what I am seeing dosn't look right to me! The blooms on on a chinese severgreen are spath type and a very pale yellow to white colour.
