I have an Arbutus hybrid (Marina) that I would like to transplant to a sunnier location. The tree has been in the current location about five years; is 12 feet tall; only a few side branches which turn upward providing a overall diameter of about 3 feet; the trunk diameter is small (about 1.25 inches). Does this species have a tap root? Do you have any advice on how best to effect transplanting? Thank you very much. Jim

Hard to dig up and move successfully. Might be big and difficult enough to engage professional help with operation. If significant new shoot growth underway should wait until top is less active.
