Small Fly with Striped Wings

    We have a few chokecherry plants on our lot and they seem to have a very small looking Fly on them. The fly itself is quite small and has a kind of see through wing with a definite black stripe in it. The worst part of theses things is they bite and it literlly draws blood. I have tried to find them online but am unable to. Does anyone have any ideas.

    They look a lot like a bug (I think it is called a lace bug - not to be mistaken with a lacewing) that is a real pest on Lily of the Valley trees. Try a search for pests associated with them - think the latin name is Pieris or something similar.

    That's the little begger. Thank you for the help. We have removed some of the trees so now we just have to decide what to do with the rest. Thank you so much.
