Hello. I planted a 4 -5ft Silberlocke Korean fir in nw Ohio in spring. I am now losing needles from mainly upper shoots/new growth. Can it be saved? Very hot summer. Not enough water? Poor drainage in clay soil?
@John Jerome good afternoon and welcome to the forum, the Abies Genus hate clay soil, for the simple reason it does not drain well. (Not because it's clay). They should be planted in a neutral to slightly acidic 'free draining' soil. So IMO your Silberlocke Korean fir will struggle to survive where it is planted. It is not the hot Summer or having enough water, but location.
