I have many trays of assorted flower and vegetable starts and (4) 40 watt flourescent lights and (1) 400 watt high pressure sodium lamp. Would it be beneficial to rotate my plants between the flourescents and the hps?
Probably. HPS don't have a full balanced spectrum, and neither do flourescents; however, the imbalances of one are picked up by the other type. By rotating you can make up the deficiency.
Before I waste time trying this myself: Has anyone experimented with LED lighting for their houseplants and/or bedding plants? The attraction is that I could run it on 12V from battery/solar/wind, whatever. HPS would be pretty much out of the question for this power source, and I understand that LED uses even less than fluorescent. Comments? Carl
