Hello everyone, I am new to this site and I need help IDing a plant I just bought last night. I got it from my local grocer. Whatever he is he's cute. His tag just says "Tropical Foliage". It also says to feed with a mild liquid fertilizer, Ideal temp range 55-70F and place in filtered sun or partial shade. I'd like to find out what this plant is and more about how to take care of it. I've enclosed a photo of course. Thank you very much, Ian
Dracaena sanderiana, variegated in your case. http://plantsarethestrangestpeople.blogspot.com/2007/10/lucky-bastard-dracaena-sanderiana.html
Dracaena deremensis "Warneckii" eta: just saw saltcedar's reply. Could be, could be. D. deremensis tends to be denser; D. sanderiana is less so. I think these are too young to call?
I do as well. How do I pronounce it's botanical name, can you type it out phonetically for me? It's common name is Lucky Bamboo from what I read in the article?
I just would like to say thank to everyone who took the time to help me in identifying my new plant. I really appreciate all your help. I have read probably a dozen articles on this plant and I have a few questions. Just to sort of verify what I've read. My questions are: They seem to like humidity and I read that a mist from a spray bottle helps keep humidity up? Keep the soil consistently moist in the growing season and somewhat dry in the winter? They prefer not to be fertilized? Good drainage is a must? Fluoride sensitive and rain water or purified bottled water is better the tap water because their is less Fluoride in rain and bottled water than in tap water? They like to be somewhat pot bound, they don't like a lot of extra room in their pots? Thank you all again, Ian
