Hoping someone can identify this flowering bush for me.I always thought it was some kind of lilac but my wife says it cannot be.
I received 3 small saplings 6 inches high about 18 to 20 years ago and planted them near my fence.
For 15 years it just grew and grew but never flowered.About 3 years ago some white clumps appeared near the top and more have appeared each year.
All other lilacs in the area(Gatineau) have long since flowered and faded away.
This thing is about to erupt wioth more flowers than it has ever had before.
The entire clump is close to 20 to 25 feet high.
I will post pictures of the leaf, the flower clump about to flower ,the trunk and the entire bush.
    hope someone can identify........
    Thanx for your help.......

It is not a Lilac, but I don't know what it is. Don't worry, someone who knows will for sure chime in soon.

I just had an Eureka moment, it is most likely a Japanese Tree Lilac, Syringa reticulata

Syringa reticulata looks like the right call.
