Dryopteris intermedia is an evergreen large fern. Whenever it shows up in the yard I either leave in its original location or transplant the young plants to a more suitable spot. It has a pleasant overall growth habit and does not spread. I highly recommend it as a garden plant.
First photo is from the summer, leaf details pictures are from now. Last photo is leaf underside.

I do enjoy some evergreen plants in the garden at this time of the year, whilst eagerly waiting for the trees to wake up. Lovely shadows and detail on the closeups N.
