    I know this is a new article by the Guardian news paper, but Charles Darwin covered this in his book Origin of the species in 1859.
    If a mutation survives better than another for 'any reason', not just human influence, then that will become the dominant species.

    It's the speed of the evolution, and its being directly attributable to an identified human cause, that's of interest here ;-)
