If it is a tree of any size, hire someone to do it, if they know how to prune properly and have the right tools they can take a few branches and clean it up if necessary and it probably wouldn't take more than an hour. Monkey trees do not like to be touched, they bite back with their spiny leaves. go to this website and find an arborist in your area, call them for an estimate and go from there. http://www.isa-arbor.com/findArborist/findarborist.asp
