Hi, i have a very sunny balcony (direct sun ~9am to 2pm) with too 10-15L fix mounted pots on them. I would like to plant some nice hanging/climbing plant, preferrably colorful, sun+wind resistant and perennial. Also if i could still plant them this year, that would be awesome. Any suggestions? Thank you Fabian
Portulaca (Moss Rose) thrives in hot, dry conditions, and blooms in many brilliant hues. An annual, but I have found that this plant reseeds itself.
That is really an unrealistic set of requirements unfortunately. http://www.hgtv.com/landscaping/the-cold-hard-facts/index.html Better to plant a hardy evergreen such as creeping juniper and intersperse color plants in Summer such as Ivy Geranium. http://www.myhangingbaskets.com/articles/geraniums in hanging baskets.htm
You can always plant plain old nasturtiums and they will hang, crawl, creep all over the place, and self seed. Same with petunias. Or the tiny flowered ones that look like petunias but are Calibrachoas or "Million Bells". Does that pot have a drain hole? If not you might want to get out the drill and create maybe one in each corner. ;)) barb
I ended up planting Million Bells, Pelargonium and Fuchsia on one side and Ivy, Mandevilla and moss rose on the other side. i'll see how it works.
