Dipsacus fullonum

    This plant (teasel) has thrown up a somewhat contorted flower spike in its first year - should have waited till year 2! But everything went to sleep in July, & woke up from August on. Perhaps this tricked it into flowering. Though the photo doesn't show it very well, it looks like it has 'fasciation' ??

    Looks to me like the flowerhead has just been frost killed. I can't see any real fasciation.
