Dead Tips on Fig Tree

    We have a Fig tree in the back yard and it's been growing fine for a few years.

    This year, a few of the tips of the uppermost branches seem to be dead. They are brown and did not bud out this Spring (see attached photos.) Is this fairly normal for fig trees? Or is this an indication that these particular branches were frost-bitten?

    Any idea why this happened, and what I can do to prevent it in the future?
