Can you recommend a good variety of strawberry for a strawberry pot on a sunny patio in Kitsilano?
    Thanks,

    strawberry variety for vancouver

For a strawberry pot that functions partially as an ornamental, you may want to plant an everbearing variety such as Tillicum, which is good for the Pacific Northwest; Ozark Beauty, which is widely adapted; Quinalult, if you have no botrytis nearby, or Seascape.

The best all around June-bearing berry is Totem, which is is propagated by one of our members for sale in the Shop-In-the-Garden. Totem is good for freezing.
Another good June-bearer is Hood for eating fresh or making jam, but not for freezing. Rainier is adapted to PNW with fair tolerance to root rot.
