I have some pests on my bamboo palm (Chamaedorea seifrizii). I think they're mites or possibly aphids, or both. There looks to be 2 types, one looks like dark little spots and the other definitely have legs, light brown colour and insecty. Both seem to gather on the stalk/stems where the palm frond stems from.

I can't quite get a decent macro on the insects, but please take a look anyway. The photos are on my gardening blog: http://www.balconyflowers.com/2007/06/11/bamboo-palm-pests/

There are also some weird shoots coming from near the bottom of the palms. Any idea what they are?

It looks like it has scale insect, aphids and maybe even spider mite............try and find a systemic insecticide..the funny little side shoots look like flower spikes to me......oh and maybe even a fungal leaf spot too.....
