Here is a tidbit of knowledge. I read an article the other day and learned that what we normally consider to be thorns on roses are not such at all but are actually prickles: A Rose By any Other Name | A Moment of Science - Indiana Public Media.
When a Rose thorn sticks in my thumb, it really doesn't feel like a prickle. Lol. Enjoyed the article @Junglekeeper.
Douglas Justice included a bit about thorns, spines and prickles in the June 2020 in the Neighbourhood - UBC Botanical Garden blog, under Rubus bifrons (Himalayan blackberry).
