Identification: Another headache

    All on a rotting log.
    Size 2-3mm. The white disc -like ones have fluffy edge.
    Some of the orange ones are white edged, some without.
    Bet they are fungi, but not sure if they are of the same clan.
    Kindly ID please, thank you.

    Hi David - The white fluffy patches look like they belong to the "molds" (hyphomycetes, zygomycetes) which usually require microscopy to see the structures we need to see for ID'ing.
    The orange patches look like the start of a fruiting body (mushroom), but can't tell at this stage whether they will become ascomycete or basidiomycete.

    OK, mold & mushroom.
    Just wish the molds eat up the mushroom and only one ID required.
    Will go back a week later to follow up.
