This narrow leaf tree is about 7' tall and growing, with narrow red leaves that hold red color quite well. The tree puts out seed pods in autumn that are brighter red than the leaves.

We have Red Pygmy and Villa Taranto in the same garden. Both go more toward green in summer, particularly the Villa Taranto. The subject tree stayed primarily purple/red throughout summer. Pictures here are taken late September 2008.

In the leaf comparison photo, in early autumn colors, are Red Pygmy, Villa Taranto and the unknown subject. The unknown seems like an A.P. Bloodgood in color, height, seed formation and serrated leaf edge. However, leaves seem thin compared to the Bloodgood.

One picture shows the subject tree in its garden place.
