A snakebark maple which was raised and introduced by Firma Esveld in 1985. The bark is purplish red with white stripes. The leaves are redddish brown for 2 weeks turning green afterwards.
The first two pics were taken April 7th and the last two April 22.

    Hi scross1,

Well, I bought it from Firma Esveld itself.

    Kind regards,

    Gomero

Another one named for Karmen Rosalie van Gelderen and introduced by Firma C. Esveld in 1985 is A. davidii 'Karmen'.

Ah, I did not see until now that you live in France. I only wish that I could have a source anywhere near the level of Esveld. Thanks for the information.

Domestically available, unselected seedlings may be similar.

HI Ron, where is it domestically available? I have been looking for a way to ship from some nurseries in England and from Esveld, but the charges are just too great. There isn't much over here on the other coast so any sources that you have would be appreciated. Road trips would not be out of the question.

    Thanks.

    scross1,

The idea is that if you were to find seedlings from Acer davidii offered somewhere or were to grow them yourself you might find a seedling with similar characteristics. Otherwise, you are correct, it is not offered here (or named variety to my knowledge) and it is cost-prohibitive to try to import plants, especially with the risk of them dying.
