I have an african violet and i want more. being as adventurous as i am, was wanting to propagate them from seed instead of leafcuttings. i read that the pods take a few month to ripen. my questions are: 1.)will the plant still rpduce flowers after seed has been collected? 2.)where can i buy plants or seed that come "true to seed" or "true to type" or that are heirlooms (if they exist....)?

    Any help would be apreciated,

    thanks,

Welcome to the fanatical world of AVs!

Yes it will keep flowering, all AVs are hybrids and are highly variable so you won't get any "true from seed" plants anywhere. There are old varieties but you will have to talk to THESE people about what they are and the best way to get them.
