Hi all, I have a grafted Mikazuki that I bought last year, on a single branch the new growth shows leaves larger and without reticulation, I would like to kindly ask you if you know the cause or if it is a normal process or I should cut it. Thanks in advance!
Thanks Derek for your reply, it doesn't come from the portion of the graft, is on the top, I'll be waiting until next spring to see what happen.
OK, but a lot also do try and revert. The stong rootstock does try it's best to take over. So IMO I would remove that branch now.
Yes, definitely remove that! I love my Mikazuki and it has yet to show any reversions like that branch!
I don’t have Mikazuki but I’d rather like it :) I presume new growth doesn’t typically come out plain in year 1 then turn variegated in year 2 like Higasayama. I’m just asking the question as it appears to have similar characteristics.
