The pair of weeping cherry trees on Thompson Road in Langdale are:
'Beni-shidare' and ito-zakura. You have several good photographs of them at peak bloom in Posting #319 dated April 3.

I'm going to wait for better weather before I check out the others. Brrr.

The weeping tree at the end of Wharf is a nice ito-zakura.

Georgia Strait, one of the trees you posted on April 10 in Langdale is a 'Yae-beni-shidare'. Still looks good today. Located at Thompson and Forbes.

I found a nice spot for Hanami at the Wine Garten in Lower Gibsons, on Gower Pt Road.

    https://youtube.com/shorts/cLjEQJv9LWA?feature=share

There are a couple of benches situated perfectly, near a gently babbling stream.
‘Shirotae’ is blooming now, and ‘Shirofugen’ is in bud.

I’ve been intending to walk by this location for some time now. When I smelled the ‘Shirotae’ from School Rd I knew it was time to dive in.

On private property on Wildwood Crescent there is a planting of two ‘Shirotae’, one ‘Akebono, one ‘Yae-beni-shidare’ AND one ‘Kiku-shidare-zakura’!
All the trees are visible from the sidewalk, as they are in somewhat of a raised garden in the front yard. I was hoping someone would come out of the house, but no one did.

Here are the photos of the ‘Kiku-shidare-zakura’.
    Highlight of my day…..so far.

Not a cherry tree. I viewed the tree today, and there are no notches on the petals, therefore I assume it is not a cherry. Anyone else know what it might be?
Here is a photo from today.

Found a pair of ‘Ukon’ blooming in Davis Bay today. They both look windswept, and have been supported to withstand that westerly ocean breeze.
Located on Fir Street between Bay and Vine.

‘Akebono’ still look respectable on Cypress Way, Gibsons. Four nice trees, with a few buds yet to open.

My neighbour Joy spotted this ‘Kiku-shidare-zakura’ from the passenger seat as we drove by Soames Rd on Marine Drive. She convinced me to turn around and go back to view the tree. Joy thought it had “pride of place” and that’s why she noticed it. An unexpected delight.

That is something isn't it? … and there goes Willard, driving Miss Joy Blossom-Sighter (I like the Miss Daisy movie very much).

I also like how many of the trees in this thread (incl the one above) are on or close to Sunshine Coast BC Transit routes should one wish to be chauffeured on Earth Day to view drive-by blossoms - clean busses with usually a seat for all passengers (bike rack on front, too)

i have attached photo of a lovely Kanzan just emerging into bloom yesterday (the background is typical coastal native red cedar evergreen tree). It’s close to ferry.

There are no groves of ‘Shirotae’ that I know of in Gibsons. As you know, there are ‘Shirotae’ on North Rd, Marine Dr, Highway 101, Shaw Rd and Eaglecrest Drive. Also at the Wine Garden.
There is a nice tree at Sunshine Coast Nursery, visible from the highway.

All the tree markers are placed on the Festival Map.
If you search Shirotae in Sunshine Coast/Gulf Islands neighborhood you will find them all.

    Have fun cherry scouting.

And of course - the Canada Post mailbox Shirotae at the end of the road in Tuwanek that you posted in 2021.

i drove by them the other day but couldn’t take photos of the nice bloom

AND @Willard ~ maybe Shirotae x 2 or 3 on North Road, Gibsons … east side approx 3 houses north of firehall — I noticed as driving by the other day (and couldn’t stop)

I might be barking up the wrong tree — or species - this caught my attn on private lawn approx 2nd house in on south side of Aurora st which is off North Road in Gibsons

look for huge overgrown « Alberta » (blue) spruce (visible on map)

if I had seen someone in the garden I would have asked politely to view it closer …. The bark certainly has the horizontal stripes

if it’s not a cherry, my guess would be ornamental pear

Continuing from Aurora Way and the mystery tree near blue spruce and an old picket fence — I walked south on North Road

The first driveway off North Road - on the west side - is a small strata (large tan brown roof in map attached)

and from the entrance I could see a large white cherry that appears grafted (a large straight trunk up to approx 5 feet)

it is hard to see without birding binoculars — see the old white lattice fence? It’s in there.

The big incentive for going out and walking the X number of steps for daily health was to view these lovely somewhat neglected fluffy white trees on North Road in Gibsons

approx 2 driveways north of the bright red firehall on east side (800 block I think)

    name?

the heavy cold rain has made the white petals a bit brown

however they are pretty regardless and have pink centres that one had to stop by to view.

EDIT - according to BC Assessment tax public website, these multiplex townhouses were built in 1981, so maybe that’s the age of the cherries and pines etc
