Acer palmatum 'Reticulatum Purple'

thats what the label say D. i was questioning it before i posted it. but after researching it, it seems to match up to most pics ive seen online.

Interesting D, mine has always been deep red/ purple from new shoots to the Autumn. Think we shall compare a lot this year. Will be a bit of fun between the Reticulatum purples on two continents, lol.

 

27th April 2021 and my Reticulatum Purple is really under way.

 

10th May 2021 and my Reticulatum Purple is now showing why it is called this. Not too much reticulation yet, but its almost there.

 

3rd July 2021 and my Reticulatum Purple is showing some signs of insect attack. Important to show here as not every maple gets away without some damage throughout the season. I still like the transition colours though.

 

10th July 2021 and I had to wait for the heavy rain to ease before taking this photo, but it was worth the wait IMO.

 

A new one for me, but I'm excited to see it grow up:

Thank you D! I've got it in my 'partial shade' zone at the moment as it's so tiny and I wanted to avoid stressing it; it gets shade from around 13:00 onwards at the moment. Perhaps I'll try moving it to my 'sunny' zone where my hardier reds live?

 

Interestingly it's gone from Reticulatum purple to Reticulatum 'Amber' -- much moreso than my Amber Ghost, in fact! Weird year, weird weather, weird tree... or a combination of all three?

18th April 2022 and mine is catching up Xi, lol.

 

25th April 2022 and the best in my garden this morning IMO, so had to share.

 

What an absolutely delightful cultivar, this one has gone straight to the top of the charts, until the next order is placed of course.

30th April 2022 and yes only 5 days since my last posting of my Reticulatum purple, but it looked so nice in the very early sunshine, I thought, 'why not post it'.

 

7th May 2022 and my Reticulatum Purple was too nice to walk past with out a photo to share.

 

12th May 2022 and this one is at it's peak now for Spring.

 

The weird tree went very pale for a couple of weeks, with almost no colour at all. Now it seems to have remembered what it's supposed to be and we're getting some purple back into those leaves. Wonder what it'll do for its next trick?

 

Reds , pinks, orange, with a hint of green, absolutely gorgeous Xi.

 

A closer look at those leaves, very red in the bright sun today:

 

Beautiful Xi, I've been hiding mine in the shade as it was only a baby but looking at yours I think I'm going to move it to a sunnier spot, see if I can get some colour out of it.

 

Oh yours looks very healthy - I'm sure it would happily deal with more sun, and can you imagine all those leaves blushing purple? You should definitely do it (and post pics!)

Here is mine today 2nd June 2022, thought I should share how it looks in the afternoon sun here in Hampshire . It's several years old now and gets better each year.
