    The trees are quite tall and I see them very often
    The flowers are just now in bud
    These buds when crushed had a pleasant fragrance

    This looks like Prunus laurocerasus, cherry laurel--should be called laurel cherry really, it's a cherry not a laurel at all. It's used as hedging a lot but will grow into large trees as well.

    i checked the specs on this for making and using as a fragrant hydrosol and discovered that Nero used the same to poison his enemies wells. so i have nixed that idea.
    It has components which are extremely toxic/and be lethal when inhaled or ingested. Good to know.
