I have one of these, acquired a few years ago from Phoenix Perennials. Unlike the ones there, and the ones I see pictured online, it generates only a few sparse flowers - so few that from 20 feet away they cannot be perceived. The plant is in full sun and well watered and I plan to consign it to the compost after seeing if anyone in my area would like it. But first, does anyone have any idea why it blooms so poorly?

    Try discontinuing the liberal watering.

I've had several in the past - usually located in part sun - and they have done very well. Currently I have one located in my covered garden (where temps are in the mid 50's C) in full sun to part sun. They usually prefer full sun but either way but they do require well-drained or dry soil.

Mid 50s!! That's an age, not a temperature.

During the heat wave it reached 56C inside and the plants loved it!...me not so much when I had to water (which I did daily).
