I'd entirely forgotten I posted those, just went back and had a look. Eleven years ago! If you think the 'Higasayama' is impressive, the one that blew me away more for size was the huge 'Shishigashira' they had. I hope it is still there, must go back some day.

If it isn't too impolite a question, dare I inquire as to how many Japanese maples you have there? The whole area looks just too good for words.

Hi. I have 3 x Hino’s all from different sources and all look true to form. I’m conflicted have the right trees. They leaf out a bright pink, comparable to Wilson’s pink then start tart to fade. But as they fade they have this pale look with a green/yellow vein and the whole leaf almost looks Variegated. Quite beautiful.

Fair enough. It really is a nice one. ‘king of the green dissectums” you won’t regret it, just give it shade from afternoon onwards. I think of it as a dissected Shigitatsu Sawa.

I went to a garden centre ("Truff...") today to buy geraniums and the like for my mother's balcony - oy weh, ain't I a good son ? <LOL>

They had many maples, some of them quite nice and tall, 2 metres +, and I spotted an 'Anne Irene'. Light green leaves, yellow compared to the 'Orange Dream' next to it.

I almost bought it, but I have so many. Compared to others, that's a poor collection, but space doesn't extend contrary to what Alfred Einstein pretended - not sure about that...

Anyway, I don't think it's listed in the "maple cultivars" sub-forum. I'm sure that some of you have one, why not make a new entry ?
