What you have there is Aka Shigitatsu Sawa. And like D said already, a very pretty tree.

Thanks you guys. I figured it might have been mislabeled.

I was looking for a thread for Aka Shigatatsu but didn't see one. I also have one labeled Beni Shigatatsu sawa.

3rd May 2021 and now I have some lime green leaves to show. Only a few but I'm OK with that during this exceptionally cold Spring we are having this year.

Looking very happy and healthy, D! That green just pops, doesn't it? I gave into temptation last night and will hopefully be getting one (and aka- ) in the post fairly soon - I hope mine is as lovely-looking as yours!

“The star of the Reticulates” What a wonderful way to put it and I couldn’t agree more!

It's what we talked about the other day, being the Mum or Dad of them all.

Posting here and on the Beni Shigitatsu Sawa thread, but it's interesting to see the comparison between them.

14th June 2021 and I wanted to post this after the very high temperatures over the weekend. As long as you give this cultivar shade it will be OK.

27th June 2021 and after some talk about the reticulates in the last few days on the forum, I thought I would post this today. Still doing OK in it's position of shade in my garden.

Beni Shigitatsu Sawa on the left and Shigitatsu Sawa on the right. I'm surprised at how dark the 'normal' Shigitatsu Sawa is given it only ever gets filtered light and shade, but it seems to be quite happy where it is!

My Shigitatsu Sawa (bottom part of pic) is quite bronze-y compared to a lot of the others in the thread, but it's still much paler than Beni Shigitatsu Sawa (upper part of pic):

Haha, the reason I bought both was because I couldn't really get my head round the differences and decide which one I liked better, so all the better if I can help anyone else make that decision (or just go for both like I did!)

Beni Shigitatsu Sawa on the left, Shigitatsu Sawa on the right. Other than the obvious colour differences, the leaf-shapes are different: Beni is flat, pointed, whereas my standard Shigitatsu Sawa is more rounded and the tips curl downwards like a half-closed fist:
