Beautiful spring colours of Autumn moon, Oregon sunset, Mikawa yatsabusa, Orange dream, Watnong, Shirazz, Hokyoku and Aureum.
Yesterday afternoon I went to pick up a replacement Hagoromo due to my one not making it through the Winter and hard Spring frosts. (It happens).. So whilst I was at the nursery I thought I would take a few photos to share. Shinideshiojo and Arakawa were looking rather nice.
The weather has been perfect here. We're getting summer by the end of the week. Autumn Moon, Butterfly, Baldsmith, Ryusen and friends.
Hello, members of Maple Society. This is Mariko. I’m a cherry scout living in Japan. I don’t know so much about Maples but this spring I saw a unique Momiji tree at a local park near my mother’s. It’s name is Junsai pond park in Ichikawa, Chiba. One Momiji tree has three colours on it. I thought quite interesting but it might occur. The other side of the pond I saw similar colours but it wasn’t one tree but three different colour Momiji were planted together. The tree is now look like usual maple tree on May 16, 2021. Three different colour maples planted together are still showing red colour. Junsai Pond Park has a maple lane. It was beautiful on April 6, 2021.
Hi Mariko, Thank you very much for posting these beautiful photos. I'm sure all the members here will appreciate them. It makes me feel like playing "Euromillion" so I can visit Japan one day ;°) Domo arigato, merci beaucoup pour votre contribution.
Hi Mariko, you kept your promise to post some maples from Japan and what beautiful trees they are too. Now your on this forum there is no escape. Lol. Enjoyed every photo, thankyou. D
It's funny how many words in English come from the French (about 35%, some of them like "tennis", "war" or "tunnel" totally un-recognizable). But also some in French are directly taken from English, just like we took "football", "redingote" ("riding coat) or even "bungalow" (from India) from English. "Chartreuse" is a colour that refers to a liquor made by monks : Chartreuse (liqueur) - Wikipedia When I was in my late teens, we used to drink "Izzara", another herb-based liquor from the Basque country. Haven't had any for decades ;0)
The history of where words originated is so interesting, so many are nautical terms that I think transcend nations. I didn't know about the liqueur. I've learnt something new today. I'll take your word regarding the taste Alain. Here is another word from England 'Teetotal. That's me all my life. Teetotalism - Wikipedia
... is not a word that integrated our culture : it's essentially a Protestant concept, though Muslims can promote it too. Just like "prohibition" in the USA led to the rise, and the lasting hold of the mafia in the US society. People from a Catholic or Jewish background can of course abstain from drinking alcohol, for good reasons, just like vegans can abstain from eating meat. Agnostics, or atheists too can choose to abstain from alcohol, meat, gluten, sex, or whatever. But you know, "just balances, just weights" as the (...) says : I don't really fancy "Totalitarians" if you see what I mean. ;-) It's a matter of "libre arbitre", freedom of thinking : as long as my freedom doesn't infringe the rights of others, why must I comply to other people's rules ? Just for a laugh :
My trees seem to enjoy the cold and wet spring and most are putting on good growth. Pictures of Autumn moon, Osakazuki, Azuma murasaki, Fairy light and Filigree. At least the ground water levels have finally recovered since the recent dry summers.
I've split my photos today, after getting a couple of PM's about keeping the other thread going. So here are four that looked nice in the early morning sun a few minutes ago. Geisha, Atropurpureum, Dr Brown and Anne Irene.
