    Hi all

This was sent to me as an Acer palmatum Elmwood. Obviously it’s not an Elmwood, but it is interesting and I’d love to know what it is. Does anyone recognise the look of it?

The oranges and rusty colours are much much vivid I really life.

Thanks to anyone who can take the time to have a look at this for me.

    Regards

    Luke

Looks like Hagaromo to me. The clustered leaves are fairly unique.
There is also a Beni Hagaromo.
It’s a good grower and gets to a fair size, I guess mine is 4 meters.

My Beni Hagoromo from April 2019. It hasn't leafed out yet this year yet ( 2021). Very slow indeed. Sorry I don't have Hagoromo to compare I'm afraid Luke.
The bunching is what has drawn both myself and J @Jaybee63 towards this.

Certainly some similarities for me to consider. Thanks to both of you. The ‘real’ Elmwood should be arriving in the next few days ;-)

Look forward to seeing it Luke. I'm just annoyed I've got Elmwood and Will's Devine. Urghhh. Lol.

Thanks Alain. I’m also sure it isn’t. It’s not an issue in the grand scheme of things, but I just like to know. I like to label mine and keep some form of unity but it’s difficult with ‘rogue imposters’ lol

And what does Charlie say, 'if you lose the label then with several thousand cultivars and seedlings out there you probably won't ID it'.
So I've got no chance as you know Luke, lol.

This picture does not look typical but image 3 in the original post does.
Perhaps the leaves are not uniform as can often be the case?
