@Daniel Mosquin would have to comment on what the deal is for material that you have tried to find online and were not able to. Maybe there is an age after which the book is no longer under copyright?

I understood @zfrittz to say that he would make the documents themselves available.

@Daniel Mosquin, I have spoken to zfritz at length and clarified what was being suggested and to cut a long story short he will not be posting these now. The maple resources thread was also discussed.
    All cleared up now.

I’ve just received a “Book for Maples“ -DVD version from my family in Japan today. There are so many maple pictures and information (written in Japanese). I’m so excited ;-))

I consult it so often. It would actually be great to have an electronic version, and so searchable: sometimes things are a little hard to find!

Here is A. buergerianum 'Goshiki kaede'. A difficult one to grow and hence quite rare, but it seems quite drought resistant. This one is in pretty heavy shade under ash trees, and I watered it for the first time when I took these pics.

I agree. PDF version is also good. It’s pity that it’s written only in Japanese.

Although so many pictures so you might like it ;-)

Wow, you have so many rare maples!!

I just checked, my BFM does not list 'Goshiki kaede' which I find curious. I wonder if the electronic version is the same or contains some of Yano-san's updates. He is a dedicated and painstaking researcher.

Indeed the pictures in BFM are fabulous, and many cultivars that are little known outside of Japan. (Or used to be: a few nurserypeople like the Nichols brothers or Guy Maillot have been visiting Nara and bringing back scions.)

Apologies: I thought I was posting in the "Cheering" thread, that's where I mean to put the pics! A little off topic here. I'll repost them there though.

Although the 395 pages e-book, 'Goshiki Kaede' isn't on it either. I wish I could compare them. I will collect my book when I go back to my home ;-) but I am not sure when I can go back because of Covid19 :-(

@BA006, good evening H, I do hope that you will be able to travel home very soon and collect your new book. The other thing that this awful disease is doing is keeping us from our loved ones and that is more important than any book.

I look forward to you showing all of us your newly found copy on this thread whenever you can, sometime in the future.

I've just received a nice message from my daughter, she has just ordered me the Maples of the World book. It will be with me next week. Now to drop some hints about the Book of Maples by Masayoshi Yano. Lol.
If anyone out there knows of one to sell. Please let me know.

There is one on ebay from Belgium at the moment, but the postage is very expensive. I did buy my copy about 2 months ago off ebay, in excellent condition.

Thanks Del, found it. OMG the postage is ridiculous. To rich for my pocket. But many thanks indeed for finding this for me to look at. 'Very kind'.

My copy came from Germany, the postage was about £11, which I thought was about right. I did think there might have been further import/vat charges due to Brexit but no, that was all I paid.
