OMG, that looks stunning and I’m missing out.
Mine used to fry in the sun and crisp most of the leaves.
I love the structure of the plant as well, it’s going to make a handsome specimen

Few pics here from today , mainly to show how this cold weather is basically stopping everything from progressing , it seems all the trees have gone into suspended animation , you can see the colours re markings on the leaf etc but they just seem to have stopped then from opening out. The thing that i am interested to see is once the warmth returns ??? and the leaves then start to open as normal will the coloured markings remain as you would expect them in a normal growing year (spring) , or will they fade instantly and grow straight into the summer leaf. the later would seem probable .Looks like some of my spring colours won't last. You can see from the pictures most leaves are just hanging there waiting patiently for the warmth to arrive !! Then others especially the Sazanami the lovely spring markings this usually has are there but the leaf is size is so small at present.

Very nice trees Mark. Your Ki Hachijo is the reason I bought mine. Probably the nicest of the pics taken today. I know Spring Delight will be quite special when it decides to stop being stubborn, and you Tsuma Gaki is at the same stage as mine. Putting out new shoots and even flowering before those leaves fully unfurl. This really is a test of ones patience lol.

Totally agree M, mine are exactly the same a few hundred miles South of you. But will they go straight into Summer colour !!? I really hope not, it would be nice to have a little Spring colour to cheer us all up.

Aratama was for you Luke, wanted to show what you’ve got to look forward to when it grows.
The vast majority of mine started as small plants in pots like you are showing. Only difference is that I firmly believe in Terracotta pots and frequent watering, the terracotta dries out the mix in between.

I appreciate the thought Jaybee. I do have a bigger one that has only really started leafing out at the bottom. Give it a month and it should be stunning. I also love big, heavy and expensive pots but learned my lesson a few years ago when I had about 50 to pot up. My goodness.. talk about hard work. From now on. Plastic pots, good drainage and no lips or anything that will hinder the direct removal of the current tree/rootball. Call it boring but with the Black T-labels with white identification I actually think they look pretty cool. But that’s just me,

Thank you Derek and very much appreciated.
I’ve never been to Pats, but have bought from her at RHS shows and was lucky enough to. On once her to sell one show plant from the stand which I picked up from a subsequent show.

Our first encounter was at Chelsea in 2015, so very helpful. Also if you speak on the phone to Lolli, she again can't do enough to help. Yes the trees are small, but as long as your patient you get a nice result.

More and more are leafing out. The last one (2x) I am not sure of the cultivar name. It was mislabeled Baby lace. I bought it while dormant some 5 years ago but am pretty sure that is not correct. Someone got any idea? Others are Pixie, Ruysen, Shishigashira, Watnong, Sensu, Indian summer, Orange dream, Summer gold and Corallinum.

Good evening M beautiful photos, it looks like you have a lovely Spring time in the Netherlands. But that's why everyone wants to visit in April and May. My daughter and son in law did so 4 years ago and couldn't believe the colours. They loved it there.
Regarding the last two photos, it is very similar to Red Feather, although this is usually a bit darker, as mine is. But that's as close as I can get. Sorry I cannot help further M.
