That's a shame, I thought during this time of the cherry searching in Vancouver it might have been the opportunity to get more people involved by having trees identified with a sign.
Over here local schools have been giving children lists of things to find in peoples gardens to tick off and then talking about it back at school. It has been great to see families out doing it together.

We wish! Though on the one hand it would create wider awareness, on the other, it could invite congestion and vandalism as this is a rare cultivar.

The sign looks like an alert the city puts up for street maintenance.

Understood Anne thanks for replying. Over here the garden ID for families is for local schools only, so all is done on foot so no congestion. It was started during the lockdown to get families out walking together, which is allowed. Anything to encourage children to be more interested in trees and plants around them has got to be a good thing.

Indeed looking like a snow fountain, Snofozam is out on the north side of W. 37th (east of Wallace) on April 2, 2021.

West 37th's Akebono trees, running along both sides from Highbury to Wallace, are not quite at full bloom, but still look very nice at April 2, 2021; especially since most of their trunks appear low-grafted, which gives this particular street planting an intact elegance. What happened, Parks Board?

I checked out the 'Akebono' trees on Kullahun Drive. They're not quite at peak bloom yet, but still worth seeing at this stage. So many branches drape down to eye level, it's hard to resist the easy opportunity to photograph them.

Here is a sweet little planting of 'Akebono' on the corner of Marine Drive and Glendalough. It was posted 10 years ago, still looks the same.

Most surprising was seeing such a splash of colour on these 'Autumnalis Rosea' trees on SW Marine Dr at SW Marine Dr (that's what the sign says). They were up at the top of quite tall trees, but still, it's the first I've seen this cultivar looking so densely flowered, even on one little part. I am not showing this cultivar as being in bloom on the map, and I'm not changing that. These are also the only ones of this cultivar that I remember not being top-grafted.

You'd have to be a bird to reach the blossoms of Shujaku, the Fire-bird Cherry, which is already in full bloom at April 17, 2021. Not even a very tall tree, it just holds all its flowers up away from close scrutiny; on the west side of Wallace, south of W. 20th.

The four Ichiyo trees along the south side of W. 43rd, Blenheim to Collingwood, are still hanging in there, although looking a bit
worse for wear, in bloom at April 17, 2021.
