Acer palmatum 'Murasaki kiyohime'

3rd November 2020 and some in my garden have not turned yet, so I wanted to show this in my Murasaki Kiyohime.

 

My Murasaki Kiyohime March 2021 it’s about 4’ x 4’

 

A perfect example of this cultivar. A ball of fire in the Autumn?

4th April 2021 and I was worried about this one all night, but as can be seen the frost did not get to it. Worse is to come by a few degrees over next few nights, so took this photo now before it gets burnt.

 

26th April 2021 and morning sunshine after a night frost, my Murasaki Kiyohime made me smile. I hope it does to you.

 

15th May 2021 and some overnight rain has freshened up the leaves to my Murasaki Kiyohime. The greens are coming now.

 

23rd May 2021 and here is my Murasaki Kiyohime doing rather well now.

 

5th June 2021 and after this was mentioned this morning on the forum, I thought I would add a couple of photos of mine from a few minutes ago.

 

Spring mode is definitely over for my 'Murasaki kiyohime' but it still looks good with the dark green leaves with purplish edges.

I repotted it a few weeks back and put it in a sunny spot and it hasn't skipped a beat. Pruned out a little too, especially underneath. In the new location I can water it from the back, giving me a good view of the lower trunk which I have not seen for years!

 

17th June 2021 and my Murasaki Kiyohime is moving along nicely. It has been a slow start, but getting there now.

 

11th July 2021 and tbe one thing I like about the greens is the calming effect in my garden. So my Murasaki Kiyohime fits in perfectly. Plus the second flush colours give that tiny bit of added interest.

 

6th April 2022 and my Murasaki kiyohime is looking very cheerful atm. The photo diary begins....

 

15th April 2022 and I wanted to update on how my Murasaki kiyohime was doing. It has been cold, but the last couple of days has been warmer and brighter, hence how it is looking now.

 

7th May 2022 and what a difference a few weeks makes at this time of year.

 

24th May 2022 and I wanted to show how the greens get darker, but the leaf tips don't change as the season progresses.

 

1st July 2022 and the pretty pink tinges from the second flush leaves are very nice this morning.

7th November 2023 and my Murasaki kiyohime looking nice in the bright morning sunshine.

 

30th March 2024 and a little sunshine has brought my Murasaki kiyohime into life.

 

Waited a year for my favorite maple nursery to get these in. I quickly bought this one. I did just prune it as I plan to keep it wide and low.

 

18th April 2024 and my Murasaki kiyohime looking it's best this morning.

 

This cultivar epitomizes my vision of japanese gardening. Of course that is MHO. Nice color D.
