This is an interesting small tree. It has great fall color.

I'm not sure what to think about this little tree, or what to expect from color. Most leaves are a dark reddish purple, but then a few that are directly below others look quite different.. I have put it in mostly shade and mostly sun, and it doesn't seem to make much difference (as of yet).

I have had a hard time figuring out this one myself. It appears somewhat random in coloration...as if it is has variegation amongst the reticulation. IMO it is not a standout amongst other reticulates. However, if you (like me) have a certain affinity for that group of maples, it makes a worthwhile addition.

baby ghost is my least desired of the ghost series but i still like it in my garden. Its color is a bit unique to each tree and each location. Add to that, it is not easy to get a good shaped tree but at the same time it is a very nice small tree with unique coloring which is not easy to find. It also has a wonderful fall color.

My Baby ghost is a real baby, only had it a few months, so I thought I would log its photo here and keep the thread updated over the next few years.
No reticulation really evident as yet.

My Baby ghost has coped rather badly this Sumner, had a lot of protection but still not doing well. It is very young, so I hope it will return next year a strong tree.
Showing the photo as promised, even though it is definatly not pretty.

    Photo taken 19th August 2020.

14th September 2020 and my little Baby ghost is not doing too well. No buds at all, but still alive atm. I will give this one a lot of protection over the Winter and see how it goes. My fingers are crossed.

2nd April 2021 and I wanted to add this photo of my Baby ghost as a reference to show that sometimes maples do not move along as fast as you want. I will post updates as the year progresses and to compare with others on the forum from different climates.

This is as good as it gets atm with this one.

Looks about two weeks ahead of mine D. Very pretty young shoots. Are you keeping yours in a pot, or is it going in the ground the next year or so?

Update: 'Baby Ghost' in the greenhouse last night. I might try it in full sun and see what happens.

Is that morning only full sun D? I don't think I would trust it in the sun any later than noon.
Yours is looking stunning and especially with that black background.

I do think he has some protection for it looking at the shadows in the photo. Sadly we can't ask him, as he's not on the forum anymore.
But I do see your point D, it does look very healthy and if it's in full all day sun then that is very interesting for this cultivar.

30th April 2021 and a month after my last posting of my Baby ghost and it's only just waking up. I've had a few discussions recently with members who are watching and waiting for their own tree to come to life.
So let's see how May goes.

4th May 2021 and as promised an update on my Baby ghost. It really isn't moving along as fast as I would hope, especially looking at other members trees.
But show it I must, as the good AND the bad should be here.
