The peduncles are much more prominent in Shiro-fugen. Isn't that the pedicels you've circled on the Kanzan?

No, the flowers are covering the pedicels. It's kind of a drag that the photos are on a different page now. I'm going to put my photo (well, your photo, my circles) here again.

In the right circle, the top of the pedicels are just below the circle. In the inflorescence above the right circle, you see the peduncle with one pedicel heading down from that; the other pedicels are hidden.

The whole of Montgomery Park (W.43 to W.45, west of Oak to Montgomery) has been fenced around and is obviously under re-development, as shown in the photo below. The four Choshu-hizakura trees have been removed. Their Blooming ID 3665 should be updated. February 17, 2021.

The 'Accolade' trees on Laurel south of 52nd are not in bloom yet, except there are open flowers on all the trees, enough for me to see that on this one tree, the growth from the trunk is 'Accolade', so these are either low-grafted or on their own roots? Is there any way I'd know which, short of seeing rootstock growth?

Here are the same trees on Laurel at 52nd.

The second photo below shows leaves coming from the roots or rootstock on the ground. So far, the leaves don't look very different from the leaves on the trunk.

The Noble Consorts are in full bloom, ready for their audience. Yokihi is Japanese for the Chinese Yang Gui-fei (Yang, the Noble Consort), who was no better than she had to be, as she was the emperor's favourite. We won't mention what finally happened to her. Let us look instead at the three Yokihi trees, pink and glowing on W.48th between Columbia and Cambie at April 17, 2021.

The one on the south side of W. 48th, closest to Cambie, is the most bedraggled, with a dead left side—like Yang at her end.
    20210417_W48Cambie_Yokihi_Eng_4952.jpeg 20210417_W48Cambie_Yokihi_Eng_4954.jpeg

The one on the north side of W. 48th, halfway between Cambie and Columbia, is still looking good, though there are a lot of stems covered in dark, ominous, mossy growth—like Yang before the rebels came.
    20210417_W48Columbia_Yokihi_Eng_4955.jpeg 20210417_W48Columbia_Yokihi_Eng_4956.jpeg 20210417_W48Columbia_Yokihi_Eng_4958.jpeg

The third Yokihi, on the north side of W. 48th nearest Columbia, the one in the best condition—this is Yang in her prime.
    20210417_W48Columbia_Yokihi_Eng_4965.jpeg 20210417_W48Columbia_Yokihi_Eng_4961.jpeg 20210417_W48Columbia_Yokihi_Eng_4962.jpeg 20210417_W48Columbia_Yokihi_Eng_4964.jpeg

If there is any confusion between Yokihi and (ugh) Takasago, note Takasago has hairy leaves and pedicels. Enough said.

All the three rootstalk flowers are coming out from the kiku-shidare-zakura trees. All failed. Located in west of QE, close to the 3 big Magnolia trees area.

This specail Choshu-hizakra has passed the peak stage, but the color of dark bright pink is still quite attractive.

Pink perfection on 6137 Cambie street. Left is Pink perfection, right is Kanzan. It is easy to identify them side by side.

Thank you! I saw all the construction around there and thought there was no 'Pink Perfection' remaining.

The ‘Yokihi’ on 48th (east and west of Columbia) are blooming about 75%. Now is the perfect time to view them.

They really are “entirely beguiling” as described in the VCBF list of Cherry Cultivars.

Location: 48th Ave and Columbia Street
    Type: Yokihi

After seeing all the beautiful photos of the Yokihi post, went out and checked myself. Worthy of checking it out. Beautiful pink blossoms almost in full bloom.
While driving along 48th Ave towards Cambie Street noticed there were few more along 48th Ave. Noticed that Yokihi were blooming a bit ahead of the Kanzan along the same 48th Ave.

The 'Sendai-shidare' that Janice discovered last year, in the front yard on the east side of Cartier, south of W. 41st, is just past peak bloom. A few red-eyes appearing at April 16, 2022.

I'm still collecting photos for the Magical two-tone trees | UBC Botanical Garden Forums thread, but I don't really have to work at it. They just appear - two of them at the gas station at 41st and Granville. The station is otherwise rimmed with 'Kanzan' on both street sides, except that there is one 'Shiro-fugen' in the group.

You can barely make out 'Pink Perfection' on the right, behind 'Kanzan.
