    We do keep a resource list of nurseries. I was actually about to recommend Gaurrat to @Shin-Deshojo , but I see they don't have 'Japanese Princess' either. Good place for larger trees though.

    @wcutler Wendy could you add to CECE - accueil (Benoit Choteau) the resource list, as well as https://www.lafeuillade.com/ ? @Acerholic is this something you can do as seems appropriate? Nurseries should only be added when people have strong positive personal experiences, of course.

    Thanks D, I'm not sure where you put it, though?

    These resources should be on Maples: Nurseries Specializing in Maples Outside of North America as I understand it.

    It would be good to put one there for CECE-Choteau also, you can say: "A long-time supported of the Maple Society, Benoit Choteau learned about Japanese Maples at the Firma C. Esveld and the Kalmouth arboretum. Over the years the quality and selection of his plants is universally recognized, and he has been recognized as one of the leading lights of the European maple world. He grafts more than 500 cultivars and has named many himself from his continuing research and selection process."

    I see "Lotta Plants" is still listed, that doesn't exist anymore, right?

    Thanks!

    OK, I've posted both on the resources section of the forum for Belgium and France, but for some reason they are not transferring over to the Maples nurseries not in North America resource page. I am following it up, so please give me a little bit of time to sort it out...... I will get there !!!!

    In Europe, OK, but what will happen now with the UK in terms of imports and exports ? The other day, I was wondering about trips to arboretums in Europe for UK citizens, or the other way round for Europeans and what they will be allowed to bring/send and under which conditions ?

    Let's hope we'll find smooth solutions, on either side of the Channel or the Irish sea...

    I'm afraid I'm a bit depressed at the moment. :-(
    Let's hope the six nations tornament will give us nice games, whoever the winner, to cheer me up.

    Think your right Alain, but give it time and both sides will realise that trade must continue smoothly for everyone. There are some wonderful specialist nurseries both sides of the channel. My friend received a maple from Europe last week and inside the box he said it had a plant passport with it. Looks like this is what will be required.

    Sorry to hear your feeling depressed atm, hope England winning the Six nations will pick you up a bit......... Lol.

    Oh, that's mean !

    <LOL>

    Actually, if France loses against Italy, it means the Italians have improved again. A few years ago, they couldn't be taken seriously, but now, they're not so bad.

    I France loses again against Italy (it happened, kudos on the squadra azura!), it could also show that the French team lacks of a "spirit of unity", team spirit in sports jargon, which England definitely has.

    De Gaulle once said once "How can you govern a country tghat has over 300 different kinds of cheese ?" Hu hu...

    Que le meilleur gagne ! Above all, we all want a good game, no foul play, spectacular daring initiatives, so that we can spend a good time watching the artists.
    The sportsmen, sorry.

    @Shin-Deshojo @Acerholic
    Hi to everybody, I haven't been here for a long time.
    Yes, as acerholic has mentioned I have been to Baumschule Nielsen in Soltau, Germany, I am not an expert like acerholic, but I can say that I only have very good experience with this nursery.

    @sun A very good morning to you A, lovely to hear from you. If you can do a write up on your experience with the nurseries mentioned I will add it to the Maples resources page to assist anybody who wants to purchase good trees.

    How have your trees coped during the Winter?

    Hope you and your family are well.

    Yes, from my limited knowledge of maples I can say that all the trees in Baumschule Nielsen seem to be quite strong and happy. Christian Nielsen is very enthusiastic towards them and he has much more species than on his homepage as he always observes cultivars that he gets from different sources and only later offers them.
    It is a family business and they are all very friendly and helpful. I definitely are going there again...

    I think all my maples have survived this winter, my family, too. But it is quite hard at the moment. Especially for the kids that will all finish their school this your, next year or the year after.

    The one good thing that is happening is the vaccine, so let's hope we all get back to at least a new normal this year. Our grandchildren are all at critical stages in their education and tbh this online learning is nowhere near as good as face to face. But children are more resilient than we give them credit for and they will come through this probably stronger than we think.
    So glad to hear your trees have come through their first Winter well. The new leaves and new life will be a very sight welcome for you. Look forward to seeing your photos in a few weeks.

    @sun ,
    Hi and welcome back.
    Thank you for the feedback,
    The nursery is a bit far away from where I live ( 4h) but if you say it is worth to visit, I may give a try in the futur.

    Edit: oh I just realised that the nursery you are talking about is the one that caught my attention last year, so thank you for giving more details and confirming it is a good place.
    I'm looking forward to go see their maples and bring some with me.

    Thank you D.

    I still need to to do a little review about the belgian nursery i mentionned in earlier in this thread...
    I'll try to remember to take a moment to do it, so you can eventually add it to the list.

    Yes, my mother will take her first shot next Thursday. My eldest son (31) has caught it and is on sick-leave until 22nd. After feeling very tired or a week or so, he's OK now : he was supposed to spend Sunday at his girlfriend's place from what I heard.
    Saint Valentin, help them ! <LOL>

    Thats good and not so good news Alain, but fingers crossed in a couple of weeks your mum and your son will be able to put this virus behind them.
