Mosses: Common tamarisk moss (Thuidium tamariscinum

Well Christmas is just 3 days away, but here in England it is wet and so very mild, a perfect recipe for moss to grow everywhere. Here in my local woods I found this Common tamarisk moss Thuidium tamariscinum. So lovely and lush, as to be expected at this time of the year.

Probably my last posting on this forum until after the festivities. Hope everyone has a 'safe and happy' Christmas.

Here is a moss that my husband calls “Christmas tree moss”, I suspect it is a Thuidium, but I am not certain. First picture is a close up of a carpet of it in the yard, the second is a single segment I placed on an ice patch on the rocks.

I think I figured out the species of moss in the pictures I posted above.
I believe it is Hypnum imponens.

 

That looks a pretty good ID to me N.
