It won't be long M. Everywhere is drenched. But I don't have to tell you about flooding. Your country being so low must be suffering with all this rain !!!?

Hi D, strangely enough we don’t suffer from flooding that often, probably because of the mills which pump away if needed. Only with torrential rains or when rivers overflow originating from other countries. The biggest threat comes from the sea and therefor from the melting of the ice. A Dutch researcher recently suggested to build a dam to the uk and Scotland, closing off the whole North sea to protect us from the rising sea water..

Now that is extreme and rather worrying , but you know better than any of us about how the effects of the warming and melting ice will impact on low lying countries.
    'Very sobering posting indeed M'.

Hi D, yes, pretty but a reminder that winter is coming... we decided to have the first fire for the season. Even with the heat on for a while now, it is amazing how it changes the ambiance in a room. (When we first bought the house, we didn’t care for the old wood burning stove, but since then we have very much changed our opinion and now love it.)

Not too bad here today, about 16°, a few sunny patches in late afternoon, no wind, no rain. Tomorrow, foggy morning then sunny, 18°, but the rain will come in late afternoon and stay for Sunday.

Eighteen degrees Celsius on November the first ? Wow !

When i used to do a lot of work for the Scottish forestry commission in the winter months we had our own log cabin in a 5,000 acre forest , believe me when i say that our log burner never ever went out while we were up there, best thing since sliced bread !!!!

Warmest 2nd of November ever today. Last night was almost 18 C, incredibly warm for november. Fortunately tomorrow will bring cooler normal temps and not so much wind finally!

The same here in Southern England, at one point it reached 18° C in my garden, but as M @MapleMO said back to normal tomorrow with forecasters warning of an Arctic bomb on the way. Well why not, we've had everything else this year, Lol.

Feels like spring around here. Not just temperatures, but the birds too. A few Carolina wrens were particularly vocal this morning (photo is not mine).

We have had a few very cold nights here, but the weekend forecast is for 17°C which is rather unseasonal. Not as warm as N @Nik there in Conneticut 21°C, can see why the birds are confused. Next there will be new shoots forming on our trees. They need 'sleep'.

The official "Météo France" website is not as optimistic, but I prefer looking at this one when it's more optimistic ;0) :

Yeah... But temperatures will drop soon, though no frost is forecasted so far in the next two weeks.

Almost all my trees are leafless now, except for the 'Shishigashira' which, srprisingly, has red leaves on the bottom branches, and the 'Koto hime' which is still green :
