Good morning everyone, my favourite maple 'Ariadne' is so bright atm and after hearing that others on the forum stating theirs had lost all their leaves, I thought I should start with this one.
My last is to show how quickly the leaves can drop this year ( almost overnight), it is my oldest maple, Red dissectum.

I was hoping to go to Westonbirt this weekend but looking at the website it’s all sold out #tears..might have to take a day off next week and go..not sure when I’d have time to go in October otherwise.. I recall leaf drop was in full swing as at 20/10 last year

Here are a few to take your mind off it a little R @dicky5ash, but only a little, Lol. We have given Westonbirt a miss this year for the obvious reason, but understand your disappointment. Your lovley garden will I'm sure give you plenty to look at for 2020.

I’m going to make the effort and go..these 20min arrival slots are a bit tricky, particularly if you’ve got a 2hr drive..predicting journey time etc

Interesting, that looks like a half-standard (demi-solitaire) graft. Not sure I've ever seen 'Aconitifolium' done that way before. Makes a very upright tree!

Here is the unusual 'Naruto' Trident maple.

In South-Ouest of France, slow progress of colours in cold temperatures and humidity, the complete show is surely coming during the two next weeks.
3 maples over 30 i have are coloured.
-A.shirasawanum Jordan begins this year with dark colours. This is a trend that is also appearing on several other cultivars.
-A.amoenum/matsumurae from sead, 10 years old, actually orange before turning bright red as expected.
-A.palmatum ‘arakawa’, 20 years old, always faithful.

I wish you a good autumn feast.

Just in case any of you posting your gorgeous photos here should think that not receiving a 'Like' is synonymous with 'Don't Like', nothing could be further from the fact . . . often as not simply not having enough time to keep up with all the incredible posts. What a time of year this is!

Lovely Mark and D. @Harcuvar that 'Fairy Lights' is spectacular, makes me want to plant it.

Things are moving fast here too, and I have a lot of pictures but also a lot of apples to pick, with juice making coming next Friday. Still we were talking about Mirte, so yesterday on the way out to forage mushrooms (quite a few, with the new moon) and this morning in the sun, I got some photos. It's a very wide tree with a lot of different lighting, so really a multitude of colors, with a lot of yellows this year and oranges. In the first picture you can see it under the A. truncatum to the left of the euc, with the fading 'Vitifolium' on the right. The second is an attempt to get the whole tree, in the sun, but it really does show the limitations of my phone/camera. -E

Leaves collected from Westonbirt over the weekend 17th October 2020 by my daughter and son in laws friend. They all had a lovely time btw.
Arranged to make to make a lovely picture. I posted it on the Cheering ourselves up with maples thread, but thought this thread would appreciate it also. [IMG]

very nice D. I’ve booked my ticket for Friday this week..a now or next year situation..what with circuit breaker talks..This booking tickets in advance malarkey does make it tricky as you need to book at least a week in advance..before you know how the weathers going to be.. but my thought was they need all the support they can get.
