Well, it's beautiful today. Tomorrow should be just T-Storms and rain. TX and LA got the worst of it. It'll be a bitch at work though.

My wife and Harry were hiding out during that storm. They are both terrified of lightning.

@Margot good evening Margot, it looks like Phytolacca Americana to me. American pokeweed.

Looks like @Acerholic nailed it again.

I actually had no idea what it was. I've never seen it before. But I have quite a few weeds growing behind a rock garden next to a fence in my backyard. I've been lax with weeding this year and this one caught my eye. Great color. I almost broke my neck getting those pics!

Good morning from a rather chilly Southern England, but at least it's dry, atm that is.
These warmed me this morning when I saw them and I cannot believe my First ghost is still putting out new growth. So this one is my favourite today in my garden.
The leaves on my My Koto ito komachi are looking very fine this year. I'm hoping for good colour in a few weeks also.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

My first try at summer grafting. The first two pics are of what I think is 'Orange Dream'. The tree is located at the beginning of a hiking trail not far from my house. I grafted 3 and 2 took. One is in the greenhouse and one s outside. The one outside seem to have better color to me.

This one is Acer japonicum Aconitifolium. It have nice solid buds. The grafting site have calloused and healed very well. I grafted 3 and 1 took.

Good morning, no wind or rain but a bit cold here today. Was very peaceful whilst taking these few photos early.
Something rather nice about a quiet early Sunday morning in the garden. Just some bird song and my trees.
My favourite today in my garden was Reticulatum purple, but three of my Shirasawanum's came a very close second.

The remains of Laura were pretty tame. Just some rain and not that much of that for us. It looks like a couple of my plants think it might be autumn, although quite a few leaves may never see much fall color since they have already turned into crispy critters. I'm going to get some of my potted maples in ground soon and hopefully they will fare better next year.

@dangerine49 good evening J, you have suffered much the same as so many this year with the heat. So much defoliation already.
Yes, Autumn is a busy time for repotting and planting out. Probably the busiest of the year for us maple growers.
    Lovely photos again though J.

Good morning on this late Summer Bank holiday in the UK. Cannot believe Summer has come and gone for another year.
It only seems like yesterday this thread was started, but 5 months has come and gone just like that.
Entering the very busy month of September tomorrow for all us maple growers, so let's enjoy the last day of August first.
Lovely morning here in Southern England. Not too cold in the garden where I am sending this message from atm.
Here are a few. My favourite today is my last photo 'Amagi Shigure'.

    Hi.

It seems that the trees breathe easy again, with the imminent arrival of September.

It had been a long time since I had uploaded any image, but the truth is that the heat and the reaction of the Maple trees did not encourage me much.

    But the situation is improving.

I upload some photos. The name of the Maples is written on them. Regards!

    Thank you very much.

I had 2-3 maples that have not survived, and others that are recovering now.

    But anyway. Things that happen.

@monicasanchez, I think absolutely everyone has lost or had some maples struggle and defoliate this Summer.
But they are tough trees and hopefully we will all be posting these next Spring. Yours included Monica.

On my way back from bank holiday day trip I was trying to find a specialist maple nursery just outside Evesham, I failed to find it even with the postcode..but found a lovely nursery and Arboretum near Morton in the Marsh called Batsford.. great selection of JM, I picked up a Japonicum Attaryi, similar to Aconitifolium but the leaves are like dinner plates..I could have been very bad there but was restrained
