I have a 10 year old potted Japanese Maple and is overall healthy and is growing on my deck. Under neath the leaves are small white puffy cacoon looking problem, that is spreading. This has been going on for almost 1 month. I have not been able to identify the problem and would like some advise from your knowledge.
    Thank you

Good evening Averyl, first of all welcome to the maples forum.
Next about your tree, it has Woolly Aphids. This can be treated by spraying with an insecticidal soap or Neem oil.

Awesome, thank you so much for the swift reply
I will go to my local hardware store and look for the spray.

It kind of look like a type aphid to me. Maybe something can verify with the correct type.
