This information is posted with permission from Buchholz & Buchholz Nursery.

    Acer palmatum 'Mr. Sun'
This is a slow-growing, broad upright introduced by Buchholz & Buchholz Nursery. Bright lime-green leaves give way to gold and orange in fall. Named for the resemblance the leaves have to the rays of a sun drawn by a child. Does well in full sun to part shade. 6' tall by 4' wide in 10 years. Hardy to US zone 5.

This is a fun tree, its name is from the fact that the leaves look like a sun drawn by a little kid.

Very pretty! When were these taken? Do you know the origin of this tree?

all of the photos were taken in the last two days. Durning the other season it is a nice rich green color. it is a small tree, maybe getting 8' tall. The name Mr Sun comes from Buchholz. The leaves look like a sun a child has drawn.

thanks, I thought there was a thread but did not look under palmatum since Buchholz considers it a shirasawanum. The tree in post #3 is a not the same tree as the tree in post #4 & #6.

In fact it is very likely a shirasawanum x palmatum hybrid.

I'm adding a pic of my young 'Mr. Sun' to the thread. It has its summer colour now, maybe a bit over 16 inches and growing well. I'm excited to watch it mature.

If you get anything like the display that Amazing maples shows on his earlier post, you are in for a real treat this Autumn D.
Looking forward to seeing yours later in the year.

I love this tree and really want one. Not easy to find here in the uk though unfortunately.

It looks like a cross between Aureum and Trompenburg.

Just thought I would say that I have a Mr Sun arriving by the end of the week. Been on my list for a 'long' time. Will update the thread with photos when it arrives. Hope it's as nice as D @LoverOfMaples. Think Luke @Luke’s Maples might also be interested!!!
